SIM Content Enhancement
Target Audience: ~General education teachers who work with students with disabilities 2-12
~Exceptional education teachers in collaborative/team-teaching positions

Content Enhancement is one component of the Strategic Instruction Model ™ (SIM) developed by the Center for Research on Learning at the University of Kansas. It is an approach to planning instruction for and teaching to diverse groups of students. Content Enhancement Routines enable general education teachers to:

  • select critical content outcomes
  • use instructional devices to highlight key elements of the content
  • present information in a partnership with students

The Content Enhancement Series is a set of guidebooks that can be used to teach large amounts of content to academically diverse classes in “learner friendly” ways. Specifically, the routines have been developed to help teachers enhance content and improve learners’ ability to organize, understand and remember critical information.

Participants will be expected to develop and implement at least three routines in their classroom as well as participate in follow-up activities.
